Physiotherapy is an effective and evidence-based regulated health care profession. Physiotherapists assess client needs and can assist to restore and maintain an ideal level of physical function and health. Physiotherapists are specifically educated to deal with the musculoskeletal components of the human body.

The main goals of physiotherapy are to reduce pain, improve mobility, restore functional abilities and to prevent the onset of further dysfunction or disability. Through a series of therapy programs and prescription exercises, physiotherapists are able to help achieve long term results and ultimately a healthy lifestyle!

It is important to seek physiotherapy quickly after an injury or a disorder as results improve with early intervention.

Chiropractors practice a manual approach and while joint manipulation is a common technique not all chiropractic treatment involves treatment approach. There are many reasons to consider massage therapy as a component of your holistic wellness plan. Massage can have both immediate and long term benefits for many individuals including: athletes, office workers, pregnant women and those suffering from stress. Massage therapy is also shown to have notable benefits in patients who just had surgery, who are recovering from burns, or who are suffering from musculoskeletal conditions.

Massage therapy has been proven in a number of research studies to; decrease heart rate, reduce blood pressure, enhance circulation, relax muscles, improve flexibility, promote better movement of joints, and produce beneficial endorphins.


Pedorthist

Stephanie graduated from Northumberland School of Massage and Hydrotherapy in 2016 and is a member in good standing with the Massage Therapy Association of Nova Scotia. For seven years Stephanie treated clients in the Bedford area, and then in 2023 she moved her practice a little closer to home. She is excited to be part of another multidisciplinary clinic to work as a team to ensure optimal treatment for each client.

Stephanie hopes to have a positive impact in the lives of clients ranging from elite level athletes (both youth and adult) to helping those with various physical disabilities, improve their quality of life through various massage therapy techniques. Focusing on deep tissue, decompression therapy (cupping), pregnancy massage, and myofascial release.

Stephanie has taken continuing education courses in: Graston Technique, Decompression Therapy/Cupping, Fascial and Joint Dysfunction, NeuroKinetic Therapy, Sports Massage and basic reflexology.

Dr. Sarah Broders was born and raised in Newfoundland where she first graduated with a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology at Memorial University, before moving to Toronto to complete the Doctor of Chiropractic program. She wanted to become a chiropractor from a young age after seeing the positive impact it had on her family’s active lifestyle.

Sarah believes in providing evidence-based, individualized care to help people move pain-free, achieve their goals, and get back to what they love doing. Treatments can involve soft tissue therapy, spinal manipulation or mobilization, neurofunctional acupuncture, education, and rehabilitation. Sarah has specific, advanced training for working with women during and after pregnancy.

When she is not in clinic, you can find Sarah outdoors with her dog, Billy. Together they love to stay active by hiking, running, swimming, and exploring Nova Scotia.

Kim Goulden - Physiotherapist BSc.(PT) Kim graduated from Dalhousie University with a BSc (Bio) in 1994 and a BSc. (Physiotherapy) in 1997. She has lived and worked in Halifax, NS, since 1998. Previous to that, she lived her childhood years in Newfoundland.

Kim is a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and licensed with Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists. She is certified by the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada (level I) and has broadened her skills by taking many manual therapy courses. Kim’s main focus since 2000 has been private practice. She has treated numerous conditions including muscle and joint pain, neurological dysfunction and general rehabilitation and conditioning. Her style of treatment focuses on manual therapy, supported by modalities and exercise prescription.

Kim enjoys collaborating with various other health disciplines to give a diverse treatment experience to her clients. She has extensive experience with worker-related injuries and motor vehicle accidents. Kim has most recently completed both the Arthritis Society’s Getting a Grip on Arthritis® osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis education program. Ashley graduated from CCMH in 2004 and has been passionate about her massage therapy practice ever since.

Special areas of interest and skill for her are treating jaw pain, chronic tension headaches and deep tissue massage in general. She also has training in Indian Head Massage.

Tony grew up in Halifax and graduated with his Masters in Physiotherapy at Dalhousie University after also completing his Kinesiology degree there.

Tony’s love of sports helped to guide him in this direction and then, during his studies, he realized the wide variety of clients physiotherapy can help. He now treats clients with a wide range of injuries from work related and motor vehicle collision injuries to general sprains and strains. Through his connection with various sports teams he is also treating lots of sports injuries and getting athletes back in the game!

Tony applies his vast knowledge of exercise rehabilitation to all his cases.

“What I love most about being a physiotherapist is being able to help clients achieve their specific goals and make a positive change in their physical function and quality of life. I enjoy being able to make strong therapeutic relationships and helping clients get back to doing the things they love.”

Carol Ann Sweeney graduated from The University of Guelph in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics. This degree provided her with the knowledge to pursue her certification as Pedorthic Technician in 2002 and a Canadian Certified Pedorthist in 2007. A Pedorthist is trained in the assessment, design, manufacture, fit and modification of foot appliances and footwear. The objective is to alleviate pain and provide assistance for abnormalities or limited actions of the lower limb. She has worked for numerous orthotic companies across Canada and in the province.

Carol Ann is the owner of Fit Right Orthotics which has a manufacturing lab in Porters Lake, Nova Scotia. All orthotics are manufactured and adjusted locally which enables Carol Ann to have full control of the custom orthotic process, guaranteeing a superb product.

Carol Ann prides herself on her outstanding customer service and looks forward to providing services at our numerous clinics we have partnered with. She has worked with a full range of clients including children, adults, athletes and the elderly. She has manufactured and fitted orthotics for skates, ski boots and cleats allowing athletes to compete and train in complete comfort.
