The main goals of physiotherapy are to reduce pain, improve mobility, restore functional abilities and to prevent the onset of further dysfunction or disability. Through a series of therapy programs and prescription exercises, physiotherapists are able to help achieve long term results and ultimately a healthy lifestyle!

It is important to seek physiotherapy quickly after an injury or a disorder as results improve with early intervention.

There are many reasons to consider massage therapy as a component of your holistic wellness plan. Massage can have both immediate and long term benefits for many individuals including: athletes, office workers, pregnant women and those suffering from stress. Massage therapy is also shown to have notable benefits in patients who just had surgery, who are recovering from burns, or who are suffering from musculoskeletal conditions.

Massage therapy has been proven in a number of research studies to; decrease heart rate, reduce blood pressure, enhance circulation, relax muscles, improve flexibility, promote better movement of joints, and produce beneficial endorphins.


Pedorthist

Jennifer Appleby graduated with a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from Dalhousie University in 2008. In 2012, she began working closely with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Ivan Wong in the treatment of pre and post-operative hip, knee, and shoulder patients.

Prior to her physiotherapy degree, Jennifer received a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from Acadia University in 2004. She was the athletic trainer for the women’s basketball team and played on the women’s club hockey team. Jennifer has taken many post-secondary courses in acupuncture, manual therapy, SI joint, pelvis, jaw, hip and lumbar spine. Jennifer and her husband live in Middle Sackville with their 2 beautiful boys. They can usually be found around a rink or ball field. Adam is originally from Bridgewater Nova Scotia. He graduated from Dalhousie University in 2016 with a Masters of Science in Physiotherapy. Prior to that he graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2008 with Bachelors degree in Kinesiology and in 2011 with a Masters degree in Kinesiology.

She holds many certifications for massage therapy, including deep tissue, myofascial release, cupping, as well as special training to assist clients living with cancer.

She is a member of the Nova Scotia Fitness Association as a group fitness leader and hopes to pursue certification in personal training. As a certified Bellyfit instructor Katie has taught women’s fitness classes since 2013.

Dr. Haley earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and her Kinesiology degree from Illinois State University, where she played four years of Division I soccer.

Born and raised in Fall River, NS, Haley grew up playing competitive hockey, soccer, and ringette. As an athlete, she found great success in remediating injuries and strains with chiropractic care to keep her performing at her best. Her love for sports evolved into a passion for understanding the human body in terms of optimal performance and recovery. Chiropractic care combined these interests and was the perfect route for her.

She understands that each client has unique needs, aspirations, and outcomes in chiropractic medicine. Haley always begins with a thorough assessment, to then create an individualized treatment plan that suits the goals and lifestyle of each client. This degree provided her with the knowledge to pursue her certification as Pedorthic Technician in 2002 and a Canadian Certified Pedorthist in 2007. A Pedorthist is trained in the assessment, design, manufacture, fit and modification of foot appliances and footwear. The objective is to alleviate pain and provide assistance for abnormalities or limited actions of the lower limb. She has worked for numerous orthotic companies across Canada and in the province.

Carol Ann is the owner of Fit Right Orthotics which has a manufacturing lab in Porters Lake, Nova Scotia. All orthotics are manufactured and adjusted locally which enables Carol Ann to have full control of the custom orthotic process, guaranteeing a superb product.
